Here's quite an interesting article. It talks about why women are happier with plain guys and some results are not surprising. Here are some of the results that concluded from the study:

Psychologists reckon that happier marriages result from attractive women who wed uglier men.
Women who marry handsome men had better watch out.
Men who saw themselves as better looking than their wives were more likely to be disgruntled and have negative feelings about their marriage.
Most men who married attractive women were happy to bask in the glory of their partner's beauty.
Men who were more attractive than their partner demonstrated a tendency to offer less emotional and practical support to their wives.
Attractive men have available to them more short-term mating opportunities.
Men are rated as more likeable and friendly when they have a wife who is very attractive.

It's a bad idea to make generalizations Azzer. I married a man with no money. We slept on the floor when we first moved in together, had no couch for a year.

Know what? We are seriously the happiest couple I know. We have been through thin together and are now blessedly building a very great life. Together. Not all women just want a man for the things he gives her. Some of us want the man for the man. My husband is a truly amazing human being and I completely adore him as he does me for some weird reason. Who he is is far more important than the crap he has.

Well there are ALWAYS variables, but by nature the article sounds pretty right.

A woman pretty much has a need to be beautiful (by instinct)
And a man to be strong (intelligence is a strength, not just talking muscles here)

Its pretty tough battling nature.

If you wanna be a prettyboy pursuing plain women thats bound to cause some friction with nature.

But its all in how you look at it, say you were that prettyboy, it takes STRENGTH to battle the norms and probably sees BEAUTY in plain women.

Usually.. prettyboys are very cocky and very into themselves and don't treat girls with respect? I guess.. I know I'm generalizing a lot but that's what it tends to be the case.

Don't really know. It is kind of stereotyping in a way I guess.. but to some extent you're sort of right, whatever It may be, I can't really disagree that much - But in the end everyone is an individual, so I guess it can be taken with a grain of salt.

I believe everyone has a heart and the ability to love, lots or little, but some people just take others for granted.

But honestly finding a good person out there is a pretty hard thing to do, someone you can really put your trust into, and love with everything that you have.. I find trust being hard, and without trust, there's really not much to follow sadly.

And I don't have a paranoia of trusting people, I just find it genuinely hard to do, cause there is times when you know things are very right, and when something just doesn't seem to fit.

Actauly I think you're spot on. You're in the right direction here. The article is actauly somewhat wrong. It's not about how plain a guy looks, its about how he acts. Respect is a good keyword there.

Respect for women is at a pretty low rate anyway, last thing a woman needs is someone whos going to lower those standards anymore.

Anyone who says they look better than their wife is downright insulting anyway. Wouldn't you think?

Now heres another thing, women who feel not-so-beautiful can really lose respect for themselves.

(EDIT: It's like 2-3 in the morning, if any of this post doesnt make sense I won't be hurt if you point it out.)

dated and married tbh....when I was in college I had the car (of the guys I dated in college only 1, yes one, had a car the other few sponged off of me, including the one I have now--actually that is how it all started!)....I was the girl with the parents who could afford to send their kids to college without having to get loans....so it ALWAYS been the other way around for me. sorry azzer your analogy is a /fail
